Sister Sara (Sr. Terence) Mooney, OSU died October 12, 2012, at Brookhaven Hospital. She was born June 4, 1921 in County Monaghan, Ireland. She entered the congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk on November 2, 1940 and professed her final vows five years later. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Manhattan College and her Masters from St. Rose College.

Sr. Sara ministered for many years as a teacher. Her ministry was extensive and included teaching at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ozone Park from 1943-1945, 1968-1969; Our Lady of Grace in Howard Beach, NY from 1945-1953; Our Lady of Victory in West Haven, CT from 1953-1955; St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hartford, CT from 1957-1959, 1963-1965; St. Maurice School in Stamford, CT from 1959-1962; St. William the Abbot, Seaford, NY from 1966-1968; St. Nicholas of Tolentine, Bronx, NY from 1971-1972; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, Bronx, NY from 1972-1975 and St. Francis School, Patchogue, NY from 1975-1977. She also ministered for several years from 1977-1989 as a Home Healthcare Aide.

In 1998, after many years of active service, Sr. Sara retired in Blue Point where she continued in a ministry of prayer.
She is survived by two sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral mass was celebrated October 15th at the St. Ursula Center Chapel in Blue Point, NY followed by internment at the cemetery of the Ursuline Sisters in Blue Point.
