Sister Mary Josephine (Catherine) Gorman, OSU died January 2, 2012 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. She was born November 5, 1917 in New York City. She entered the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk on August 15, 1933 and professed her final vows eight years later. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Manhattan College.

Sr. Josephine ministered for many years as a teacher. Her ministry was extensive and included teaching at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ozone Park from 1938-1947; St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hartford, CT from 1949-1953; Our Lady of Grace in Howard Beach, NY from 1953-1959; Our Lady of Victory in West Haven, CT from 1959-1963; Our Lady Star of the Sea, Stamford, CT from 1963 -1966 and St. Maurice School in Stamford, CT from 1980-1983. She also ministered for several years from 1979-1993 at the Stamford Parks and Recreations Summer Program directing Arts and Crafts.

In 1996, after many years of active service, Sr. Josephine retired to Blue Point where she continued a ministry of prayer.
She is survived by two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral Mass was celebrated January 6th at the St. Ursula Center Chapel in Blue Point, NY followed by internment at the cemetery of the Ursuline Sisters in Blue Point.
