In 1924, a group of Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk travelled to the United States from Europe at the invitation of Fr. Garbottini with the intention of teaching at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary School in Ozone Park, New York. The Ursulines soon became synonymous with Nativity and, for over 80 years, continued teaching and living within the community. Students became distinguished alumni and lifelong friends to many of our Sisters and hold a special place in the hearts of all Ursulines. We also welcomed several alumnae of the school into the order of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk, many of whom went back to teach at their alma mater.
This year, as we prepare to celebrate the US Province’s 98th Anniversary we would like to acknowledge all alumni of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary School by honoring them at our Annual Swinging for the Sisters Golf Outing & Dinner.
While more details will be announced soon, including sponsorship opportunities, journal ads, and dinner and golf reservations, we invite you to save the date for Thursday, June 2nd at the North Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington (Long Island), New York.
