Sr. Cecilia Moloughney turns 100!
June 23rd, 2016, Sr. Cecilia Moloughney turned 100 years old.
Originally from Ireland, Sr. Cecilia began her teaching career in 1937 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mother in Ozone Park, NY. She remained until 1949 when she became Director of Novices for the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk for the next 10 years. She later taught on Long Island at St. William the Abbot and Holy Family from 1960 until 1969. Sister Cecilia worked in Adult Religious Education for the Diocese of Rockville Centre from 1969-76 and then served on the International Commission for the New Constitution for the Ursuline Sisters from 1976 to 1978 in Blue Point and Belgium. In 1978, Sr. Cecilia became the Director of Religious Education in Greenwich CT until she retired in 2005. In 2008, she retired from full-time work and moved to Blue Point.
An accomplished pianist and musician, Sr. Cecilia taught piano and directed choirs throughout her career and still plays music for the Sisters in Blue Point. We wish Sr. Cecilia good health and happiness.
