Sister Sheila Molloy, OSU died January 30, 2010 at the St. Ursula Center Convent in Blue Point, NY after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 30, 1937 and raised in Howard Beach, NY. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Grace in Howard Beach, NY. She received a Bachelor degree from St. John’s University and a Masters of Arts degree from Fairfield University. She entered the congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk on September 8, 1955.

Sr. Sheila ministered for many years in the education field where she served as both a teacher and principal. She began her teaching career at Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary in Ozone Park, NY. Later she served as a teacher on the high school level at Holy Family High School in Huntington, NY.

As a woman with deep spirituality, she assumed the role of Formation Director for her congregation. She also spent nine years from 1984 – 1993 as a member of the congregation’s general government in Belgium.

Upon her return from Belgium she was a Pastoral Associate in Virginia, and at three parishes on Long Island, St. Anthony’s in Rocky Point, St. Agnes in Greenport and mostly recently St. John the Baptist in Wading River.

She also served as the Co-Director of the congregation’s Associate members.

She was preceded in death by her mother Eva Wagner Molloy, her father Major William Molloy and her brother William Molloy.

She is survived by her sisters Judith Barnes and Marilyn Hannon and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Her funeral mass was held February 4, 2010, 9:30 am followed by internment at the St. Ursula Center cemetery in Blue Point, NY.
