Sr. Regina Delaney: Enthusiastic and Devoted Educator
Sister Regina Delaney dedicated her whole life to Catholic education. She is a product of Catholic School education having attended Our Lady of Grace in Howard Beach, NY where she was taught by the Ursuline Sisters. Her experiences with her teachers inspired her to become an Ursuline and a teacher. She professed her vows in 1949 and returned to her roots, Our Lady of Grace, where she taught until 1952.
Her teaching career brought her to Nativity BVM, Ozone Park, NY; St. Thomas the Apostle, West Hartford, CT; and Holy Family High School, Huntington, NY. She also served as principal at St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hartford, CT; St. Gregory the Great in Bellerose, NY; and St. Mary Star of the Sea in Rockaway, NY. In addition she has served as a Religious
Education Director and Librarian. She has helped prepare catechists in the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Sr. Regina has also served her community as a Councilor in Provincial government. As Councilor, she worked on the Ministry Committee, assisting Sisters where she could and encouraging them in their particular areas.
Sr. Regina serves as a part-time administrative assistant at Divine Mercy Catholic Academy where she assists the principal in many ways. She runs the prayer services, sets up meetings, and proctors tests. She also works on school programs and prepares the reports for The Catholic Identity Study; Preserving the Vision Study and the Middle States Accreditation. She loves working with the students and teachers. She assists the religious education department delivering talks to parents on the sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation. She works with the Nativity Alumni Association, assisting them with the alumni newsletters, fundraisers and programs.
Sr. Regina approaches life with much energy, creativity and enthusiasm. She is devoted to Catholic Education and concerned for its future.
